This dialogue explores dimensions of Black queer life in the United States and centers on deconstructing traditional conceptions of masculinity, racialized sexualities, racialized heteropatriarchy, and social justice movement politics that shape understandings of racialized sexualities. Keynote dialoguers address Black theories of gender and queer sexuality and queer theoretical interrogations of Blackness. Audience participants will gain practical experience with Black queer analysis as an interpretive lens for contemporary sociopolitical issues and cultural production, while being introduced to tools for closing the social distance between and among groups of difference. Moderated by: Paris Fitzgerald Prince, Special Assistant for LGBTQ Initiatives, Division for Inclusive Excellence. Event is free and open to the public.
