The Social Justice Student Conference is designed to create an open dialogue about social issues that plague the world we live in and to get students of all backgrounds involved in producing a working solution that can be carried back to their role at the institution. The Social Justice Conference is one of many tools that students can use to build leadership skills, to network as well as provide a comprehensive look at the true meaning of diversity. Topics discussed at this year?s Conference include: Race and Ethnicity, LGBTQIA, Sexuality, Ability and Access, Socio-economic status, Privilege, Inclusive Language, Religion, and Microaggressions. This year?s conference is expected to help students of all backgrounds deepen their understanding of diversity and to grow as a student leader on campus. The day of the conference, Thursday, December 1, 2016 will begin at 10:00 am with an opening presentation in the Commons Theatre. The day will continue with students attending several different sessions about various different topics led by their peers from the hours of 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Richmond Salons. There is no registration for this conference as the flow of the conference is more open because classes are in session. Students will be able to attend as many sessions as their schedule allows. We will, however, be taking attendance at the start of each session to assess the number of students who attend. We are now calling for presentations and encourage students to submit a proposal. Please fill out the proposal here: https://goo.gl/forms/3SpqLsjr5xGcOVuh2 The deadline for presentation submissions is October 27, 2016 at Noon.
