The Tokyo String Quartet have captivated audiences and critics alike since the group was founded 42 years ago. They have collaborated with a remarkable array of artists and composers, built a comprehensive catalogue of critically acclaimed recordings and established a distinguished teaching record. The ensemble performs on the "Paganini Quartet", a group of renowned Stradivarius instruments named for legendary virtuoso Niccolo Paganini, who acquired and played them during the 19th century. You may or may not know that the group has announced their retirement from the concert stage at the end of their 2013 season. This performance will be one of their last and we lucky to have the opportunity to bring them to Richmond.
