Did you know that by 2050, French will be the most widely spoken language in the world?

 

Join our noncredit course to learn more about French culture, and French influence in cuisine enjoyed around the French-speaking world. During this 5-week course, students will learn basic vocabulary to read a menu in French, order a meal in a French restaurant, and have the opportunity to sample cuisine in two French restaurants in Richmond. This course is offered in a hybrid format with 3 of the classes scheduled virtually on the VCU Zoom Platform and two of the classes will be held at Richmond area restaurants.

 

Course Schedule:
May 31: Greetings in French - Vocabulary: tableware (spoons, forks, etc...), and expressions used at the table - Virtual Lecture 6:00-7:00PM
June 7 : Vocabulary: Food, drinks, menu - Virtual Lecture 6:00-7:00PM
June 14: Visit to a French restaurant - Les Crepes in Carytown. Les Crepes strives to bring Richmond a taste of France with their unique crêpes. - Dining Experience - 6:00-8:00PM
June 21: Regional French cooking - Virtual Lecture 6:00-7:00PM
June 28: Visit to a French restaurant - Max’s on Broad. Max's on Broad is French-inspired cuisine served in a beautiful restaurant overlooking the Maggie Walker Monument with patio dining.  - Dining Experience - 6:00-8:00PM
