Social Justice and Elections will be the theme for the 2024 VCU Libraries Social Justice Lecture with Mike Caulfield. Information literacy expert Caulfield is a research scientist at the University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public, where he studies the spread of online rumors and misinformation.
Caulfield’s groundbreaking work on misinformation and disinformation helps people to develop the approaches necessary to create a socially just election process. His presentation will explore how citizens can develop the necessary skills to participate fully in our democracy, protect truth and improve civic engagement and fair consideration of issues.
