This faculty-only session is a time to learn techniques and get assistance on research assignments where nonexistent citations or other signs of inappropriate generative AI use are becoming more common in students’ work. The session will start with an overview of techniques to adapt assignments to incorporate or to exclude generative AI. The bulk of the time, however, will be spent revising or reinventing assignments that faculty bring.
The workshop will be flexible, including having a librarian try to “break” the assignment with a generative AI answer or talking about ways to rework it to make the assignment work with generative AI. Together we'll look for tweaks to make cheating less tempting and to help students meet learning goals. Pre-registration is required to receive the Zoom link, as the sessions are intended to be small.
