The Bioinformatics team at the Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research and VCU Libraries will host a 5-day series of workshops focused on introducing attendees to popular genomic databases.  The intent of this workshop is to teach participants about the types of data stored in each database and how to access and navigate them. Each day will consist of a 1 hour lecture/database demo followed by a 1 hour hands-on session in which attendees will complete a basic and (optionally) advanced assignment. Databases covered will be NCBI Gene (June 11th), NCBI BLAST (June 12th), NCBI Variation Viewer (June 13th), NCBI Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) (June 14th) and NIH's Genomic Data Commons (GEO) that hosts data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) (June 15th). You must sign up separately for each day you want to attend as seats are reserved on a per-day basis. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants who register for and attend at least 4 of the 5 sessions, complete the workshop assignments and a short survey after the course has concluded.  If you want to earn a certificate SIGN UP EARLY as space is limited!
