In this Berglund seminar, Dr. Mark Ryan and Dr. John Nestler will explore the importance of the humanities in medical training. They will also discuss efforts at VCU to integrate the humanities into medical training.
Session objectives
1) Identify the benefits of humanities education for pre-medical students and medical professionals, and review recent studies demonstrating these benefits.
2) Develop a plan to develop a medical humanities curriculum for undergraduate and professional educational programs.
3) Review curriculum ideas for VCU undergrad and medical school curricula, and predict potential challenges to implementation.
This event will be held in multipurpose room 1303 of the Honors College and is worth two (2) Engagement points.
