Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall
W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts

The VCUarts Department of Theatre and Department of Music are proud to partner for the first time in recent memory to bring to the stage Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Something Wonderful.

This dynamic concert features more than twenty of the titanic pair’s most beloved songs from the musical theatre stage, and films. Utilizing singers from both the Department of Theatre and the Department of Music, as well as the VCU Symphony which numbers more than fifty instrumentalists, this is the musical event of the season.

Rodgers and Hammerstein have written some of the most beloved musicals of the past century, including The Sound of Music, South Pacific, The King and I, Oklahoma, Carousel, Flower Drum Song, and State Fair. The concert also features music from their lesser-known, experimental musical Allegro. Audiences are guaranteed to fall in love with these timeless classics all over again, and leave the theatre humming their enchanting melodies.
