Title: Introduction to Data Management Best Practices in Clinical Research

Objectives:

By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:  

  1. Describe basic concepts in the role of data in producing accurate clinical research findings
  2. Recognize at least three common risks to data quality during the clinical research data workflow
  3. Explain how one or more best practices in data management can address one or more common data quality risks

CE: 1.0 CE credit hour for SOCRA CCRP Renewal. Only SOCRA members receive Certificates of Attendance.  The Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA - www.SOCRA.org) accepts documentation of candidate participation in continuing education programs for re-certification if the program is applicable to clinical research regulations, operations or management, or to the candidate’s clinical research therapeutic area.

About the speaker: Nina Exner is the Research Data Librarian at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has a Ph.D. in information science from UNC Chapel Hill. Nina provides consultations and training to the VCU / VCU Health community in data management and data handling throughout the research
lifecycle. Nina advocates for open sharing of data to promote innovation, in balance with respect for the human rights to privacy and autonomy.
